1. Jermaine Bishop Jr. | ATH

6 feet, 166 pounds | Willis High School | Willis, Texas

Bishop is one of the fastest and most versatile players in the entire class. His quick acceleration, change of direction, and ability to create plays in space make him ready to contribute immediately. The 2025 Dave Campbell’s Mr. Texas Football winner will play on both sides of the ball at Texas and could earn early opportunities on offense, defense, and special teams.

2. Richard Wesley | Edge

6-foot-4, 258 pounds | Sierra Canyon | Sylmar, California

Wesley already possesses the size and explosiveness of a college pass rusher. The five-star prospect was rated as one of the top defensive ends in his class and enrolled early after reclassifying from 2027. With offenses focused on Colin Simmons, Wesley could earn opportunities as a rotational edge rusher on passing downs, very similar to Lance Jackson's role in 2025.

3. John Meredith III | Cornerback

6-foot-2, 185 pounds | Trinity High School | Fort Worth, Texas

Meredith was ranked as the nation’s top cornerback in the 2027 class before having to reclassify due to a UIL ruling making him ineligible for the 2026 High school season, in which he had planned on suiting up for North Crowley. His length, athleticism, and coverage ability give him the tools to compete immediately in the secondary. The five-star defensive back arrived later than most freshmen and has had a rough start with an illness and a hard adjustment period upon his arrival, but his natural talent could still help him earn meaningful snaps during his first year in a loaded Longhorns secondary.

4. Derrek Cooper | Running Back

6-foot-1, 212 pounds | Chaminade-Madonna Prep | Lauderhill, Florida

Cooper is a physical and versatile running back; he runs through contact, catches the ball well, and brings value on special teams. Texas has experienced options in the backfield with the arrival of transfers Raleek Brown and Hollywood Smothers, and there are swirls from summer workouts of ATH Michael Terry running the ball quite well. But Cooper’s combination of power and athleticism could make him difficult to keep off the field.

5. Tyler Atkinson | Linebacker

6-foot-1, 219 pounds | Grayson High School | Lawrenceville, Georgia

Atkinson arrives as a five-star linebacker with the speed, instincts, and physicality to make an immediate impact. He enrolled early in the spring, giving him additional time to learn the defense and adjust to SEC football. Atkinson could contribute on special teams before working his way into the talented linebacker rotation; he will have to compete with newcomers Rasheem Biles, Juice Cryer, and Lake Travis's own Markus Boswell for reps, as well as what was already on the roster and his 2026 signing class-mates.
